NeoWork

Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 27, 2026

Introduction

NeoWork ("we," "our," or "us") provides a challenge platform and the NeoWork Desktop App. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard information when you use the website, participate in challenges, and run the desktop app. The desktop app is the supported capture client for challenge sessions; a browser extension is not required.

Information We Collect — Platform

  • Name, email address, display name, and profile picture
  • Authentication state managed through Clerk
  • Challenge participation, submissions, scoring, and review history
  • Product usage metadata such as pages visited, features used, device type, IP address, and general region

NeoWork Desktop App

The desktop app captures challenge-session evidence from the operating system rather than from a browser plugin. It only collects challenge activity after you launch or join a NeoWork challenge session and stops when the session ends.

Key Principle

NeoWork does not continuously monitor your computer. Capture is session-scoped, permission-gated, and limited by app and privacy policies.

Desktop Permissions

Screen and system capture

Used during active challenge sessions to record the work context needed for evaluation, playback, and coaching.

Accessibility context

Used to understand foreground applications, windows, focused UI, and visible text where the operating system allows it. On macOS this maps to Accessibility APIs; on Windows this maps to UI Automation.

Input monitoring

Used only during active challenge monitoring to capture keyboard, mouse, and clipboard activity needed to reconstruct the candidate’s own actions and typed input.

File and workspace access

Used only for user-selected challenge workspaces so NeoWork can detect submitted artifacts, relevant file changes, and generated outputs.

Local desktop bridge

Used to connect the website to the installed app and hand off challenge sessions without requiring a browser extension.

Desktop Data Collected During Challenges

  • Screen recording segments and selected keyframes from active challenge sessions
  • Foreground application/window metadata and operating-system accessibility snapshots when enabled
  • OCR or structured text extracted from captured work context
  • File, Git, and artifact activity inside selected challenge workspaces
  • Clipboard changes and session-scoped keyboard input signals during active challenge monitoring, including retained typed text when permitted by the challenge capture mode
  • Session metadata such as challenge ID, desktop session ID, recording IDs, timestamps, platform, app version, and upload status

Privacy Protections

  • Capture only runs during an active NeoWork challenge session and can be paused or stopped from the app.
  • Because screen recording may include visible windows, candidates should close personal or sensitive applications before starting.
  • NeoWork does not intentionally access saved passwords, system keychains, or operating-system credential stores.
  • Credential and PII patterns are redacted on a best-effort basis before text is processed for evaluation.
  • Short-lived local queues are used for upload reliability, not as a local memory product layer.

Data Storage and Retention

The desktop app may keep short-lived local state, recording buffers, and retry queues so capture can finish reliably. This local state is not intended to be the long-term memory layer for the product.

Challenge evidence is transmitted over HTTPS to NeoWork servers and stored in our managed database and storage systems for evaluation, review, fraud prevention, product reliability, and support. You may request deletion of eligible session data by contacting us.

How We Use Your Information

  • Provide, operate, and improve NeoWork challenges and evaluation workflows
  • Analyze challenge sessions and generate evidence-backed reviews
  • Detect abuse, protect platform integrity, and troubleshoot desktop capture issues
  • Communicate with you about your account, challenge progress, and support requests
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms

How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information with:

  • Service providers that help operate NeoWork, including hosting, storage, authentication, analytics, and AI processing providers
  • Challenge hosts or reviewers when session evidence is required to evaluate your submitted work
  • Legal or safety authorities when required by law or necessary to protect rights, safety, and platform integrity

Your Choices

  • You can stop or pause desktop capture from the app during a session.
  • You can uninstall the desktop app at any time.
  • You can request access, correction, export, or deletion of eligible account data.
  • You can contact us if you believe sensitive information was captured unexpectedly.

Security

We use technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect captured data, including encrypted transport, access controls, server-side authorization checks, and monitoring of privileged operations. No system can be guaranteed completely secure, but we design NeoWork Desktop capture with least-necessary collection and server-side controls as default assumptions.
